Flora and Fauna

- Presidential Decree 67/81 (OJ A’23/ 30-01-1981, corrigendum in OJ A’ 43/18-02-1981) «On the protection of native flora and wild fauna and the determination of procedures for the coordination and the inspection of the research on these» with catalogues of plant and animal species of Greece, endemic, rare and threatened, that have to be particularly protected; definition of the procedures to be followed for collecting, hunting, research, etc.

- Law 1335/1983 (OJ 32/A’) “Validation of the International Convention for the conservation of wild life and natural environment in Europe” (Bern 1979). Appendices with plant and animal species that have to be particularly protected.

- Presidential Decree 80/1990 (OJ 40/A’/22-3-1990) on the “Protection of plant genetic material of the country” that has been edited aiming at the “protection and conservation of the genetic resources of local, traditional cultivated plant species and of their wild relatives”. This P.D. also prescribes the establishment of the National System for Plant Genetic Resources.

- Law 2055/1992 (OJ 105/A’/ 30-06-1992), validation of the CITES 1997 (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of wild fauna and flora).

- Law 2204/1994 (OJ 59/A’/15-4-1994) validation of the Convention on Biodiversity (Rio de Janeiro, 1992)

- Inter-Ministerial Decision 33318/1998 (OJ B’ 1289/28-12-1998) for the “Definition of measures and procedures for the conservation of natural habitats of wild fauna and flora” that came to validate the European Directive 92/43/E.E.C.
